VolkerStevin will host a supplier engagement day on 9 February at Helensburgh Parish Church, Dunbartonshire, with the aim of speaking to contractors about opportunities to work on the HM Naval Base Clyde development and associated infrastructure improvements.
Hosted in partnership with leading procurement provider Constructionline, the event will give SME suppliers the chance to meet face-to-face with representatives from VolkerStevin and their partners to discuss this high-profile project.
Established to prepare the naval base for the next generation of ballistic missile submarines, the Dreadnought class, and to extend the life of existing nuclear facilities for another 25 years, the project is set to support economic and community growth in the area. Infrastructure works and training and accommodation facilities will be an integral part of the development to create the new and expanded Naval community in Helensburgh and its surrounding areas.
Providing complex engineering and infrastructure solutions across the UK, VolkerStevin is looking to meet contractors to work on the £500m development. It is estimated that 1,000 construction jobs will be created as part of the development project and the event will facilitate discussion of these opportunities for work.
“We look forward to welcoming a wide range of contractors to the event on the 9 February,” said John Laverty from VolkerStevin. “We want to deliver opportunities for residents and local businesses and we hope to meet and develop relationships with a number of SMEs in the local area.”
